Cape Town isn’t one city: it’s a collection of smaller worlds, each with its own rhythm, flavour, and story. Every suburb carries a unique sense of identity that deserves to be explored on its own terms. That’s why, on Lizaperold.com and across my Beginner’s Guide to Cape Town series, we take a suburb-specific approach. Instead of chasing lists of “must-see” attractions that send you zig-zagging from one side of the city to the other, we slow down, stay local, and experience places in context.

Cape Town is big: geographically, culturally, historically. It’s layered with influences from every direction, and trying to “see it all” in one visit isn’t just exhausting, it also misses what makes each neighbourhood special.
